How it works
How to use Switched on ICT
1. Prepare yourself
The Teacher’s Book contains everything you need to prepare for each task including things to do and things you will need. The Software in 60 Seconds demos offer simple walk- throughs of software tools so you and colleagues can get up to speed quickly.
2. Prepare the children
Pupils work through the projects in groups, using the Unit Posters to guide and inspire them.
3. Get started
The Teacher’s Book provides full support and guidance for running each project. There are also ideas for extending the project further and new things for you and your children to try.
4. Assess ICT capabilities. Simple-to-follow assessment guidance enables teachers to identify pupils’ understanding and skills, to identify the National Curriculum level at which they are working, and to set targets for progression.

ashields’ class used the same unit to make a movie for the reception class in ‘We are TV chefs‘. ![]()
